Interview With An Outlander……

….Fan that is! I was chatting with a fellow Outlander fan and Blogger about a week ago. We were just chatting about the, show and things we see on Twitter. Somehow, we got around to talking about our fellow bloggers and thought why don’t we get to know them through a simple non-evasive mini interview. An idea was born!

I recently did this kind of thing with the Author Chloe Neill during her blog tour for Blood Games! It worked out great! PSA:The Chicagoland Vampire Series is a must read! Okay, my book pimping is done so back to the point.

Jen and I decided to interview each other and post said interviews on our perspective blogs in order for Outlander fans around the world to get to know as many bloggers as possible. After the interviews, we are going to tag a few bloggers we know and ask them to do the same. It could be someone that is assigned or pick your own. I guess you could think of it as a ‘pay it forward’ kind of thing! So,without further ado here is a’Interview with a Outlander’ fan!

1. How were you introduced to the Outlander Series? Was it recommended by a friend or book club?

I actually picked Outlander up because it was recommended to me by Amazon.com. Yes, really. It was about Scotland so I thought I’d give it a try. I have always been a reader but at this point in my life, I was also a brand new mother with two babies – 15 months apart. I needed a good, beefy book to occupy my mind in between diaper changes and night time feedings.

I started reading it and literally could not stop. I’d stay up all night reading at times. Finally, my friend asked me if I was okay. I had to confess that I was hooked on a book. She just laughed and said she had read it as well and couldn’t believe that I hadn’t read it yet considering how much I read. Been happlily hooked ever since!

2. In what way has the Book series changed your life? The show?

I think Outlander has changed me deeply. I have always loved Scotland and had been to Scotland before reading Outlander. After reading Outlander, my love for Scotland and my heritage (I am Scots-Irish) only deepened. It has afforded me a much deeper understanding and appreciation of who I am and where I came from.

The series hasn’t really changed me so much as it has changed the way I interact with other fans. I was so excited over the series coming to television that I never shut up about it. I was driving everyone insane – so I started a blog. To drive even more people insane I guess. 🙂

3. Book Claire or Series Claire?

Oh, Series Claire! I had a very hard time warming up to Book Claire. She and I are good now but it was rough going in the beginning.

The moment I saw Caitriona Balfe, I knew she was the one. And she is. As a long time, passionate fan, I could not imagine anyone being more perfect for the role of Claire. Yes, I know there are some physical differences. I don’t care about any of them. She has the essence of Claire down so perfectly. I just love her – and I was SO AFRAID I wouldn’t love her. I feel blessed as a fan to have her as Claire!

4. Are you a first time blogger or a seasoned professional?

I am a seasoned, battle hardened fan girl. I was a co-admin of a very large fan board for years. In addition to that, I also wrote a blog. All of that stuff is gone now but I am well versed in the way of fangirling!

5. If you could travel through time, what time period would you like to end up in? Would you prefer the time travel method to be by Delorean or standing stones?

I studied History at Montana State University – and remain a student of History now. I have interest in almost every single era of History so it’s hard to choose, BUT if I had to choose just one, I think I’d choose the era Jamie and Claire find themselves in MOBY. Right on the cusp of the founding of the United States. That era fascinates me!

No Deloreans for me. I’d travel through the stones 🙂

6. What other types of books do you read? Other favorite authors?

Oh gosh….I literally read everything. I enjoy almost every kind of literature there is and read a lot of History books. I am currently reading Bonhoffer by Eric Metexas. If it is of interest to me – and lots of things are – I will read it

Favorite authors include: Jane Austen, Lisa Kleypas, Larry McMurtry, Frank McCourt, Georgette Heyer, Charles Dickens, Sophie Kinsella, Karen Hawkins. Kristen Higgins…..I could go on for a while – LOL

We really had fun with this and it is our hope that you will as well. Jen and her blogger in crime have a website that you should definitely visit and all you have to do to get to it is to click HERE!

Now, here is where you come in, my fellow bloggers because now it’s your turn. I am going to tag/challenge Monica @OutlanderItaly to send a mini interview to a blogger of her choice in the Outlander Community and and post it on their blog. In return, ask that blogger to send you an interview as well to post on their blog. Anyone that I tag/challenge has to tag/challenge another blogger.

I also tag/challenge @FPontheDL from @OutlanderOnline to send a mini interview to any of my bloggers here at OD,and you can reach them on Twitter @Frasers_Ridge and @gingerylocks and they will do the same.

My last tag/challenge is for Beth Wesson @pixietwit to send a mini interview to two different bloggers in the Outlander Community and ask one of them to send questions in to you that they can post on their blog and vice versa.

The goal is to keep it going as long as possible and to spread the love and we all get to know each other! I have a feeling Outlander will be on for a while. Have fun with it my fellow bloggers!
